Dear Wedding Planner,
In these modern times, many betrothed couples search for a traditional wedding venue-one that imparts a sense of class and old-world charm. This is what we offer at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, located in the historic Midtown area of Houston. This magnificent church, built in 1927, tells only a part of the history of this parish. It was originally founded in 1851, as First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, on the corner of Texas and Milam streets.
In the present location, across the street from Houston Community College Central Campus, the church edifice of Lombard-Romanesque architecture is graced with a statuesque 86 year old magnolia tree, and an old fashioned gazebo, which is also available for outdoor ceremonies.
Inside the nave, you'll be struck by the magnificent hardwoods surrounding the altar, itself fronted with a hand-carved depiction of the Last Supper, illuminated by recessed lighting. The entire altar area is highlighted by two 120 spotlights, high up in either transept. Together with the antique chandeliers, the bright acoustics with wireless mikes for the officials-your wedding will look and sound marvelous! You must bring your own clergy to officiate and you must bring your own musicians. If you need help choosing either you may contact the church office for assistance.
